왕이 말했습니다.  “살아 있는 아이를 둘로 나누어라.  그래서 두 여자에게 반 쪽씩 나누어 주어라.”

살아 있는 아이의 진짜 어머니는 자기 아들을 위하는 마음이 불붙듯 일어났습니다.

그래서 왕에게 말했습니다.  “내 주여, 제발 그 아이를 죽이지 말고 저 여자에게 주십시오.”

그러나 다른 여자는 “우리 둘 가운데서 아무도 그 아이를 가지지 못하게

그냥 나누어 주십시오”라고 말했습니다.

Then he said, “Cut the living child in two, and give half to one woman and half to the other!”

Then the woman who was the real mother of the living child, and who loved him very much,

cried out, “Oh no, my lord!  Give her the child-please do not kill him!”

But the other woman said, “All right, he will be neither yours nor mine;

divide him between us!”
