그때에 흙으로 만들어진 인간은 흙으로 돌아가고, 그 영은 그것을 주신 하나님께로 돌아간다.

설교자가 외친다. “인생은 정말 허무하다.  세상만사가 너무 허무하다.”

내 아들아,

이런 말씀에 더하여 다른 가르침을 주의하라.

책을 쓰는 일은 끝이 없고, 공부는 하면 할수록 사람을 피곤하게 만든다.

세상만사의 결론을 들었으니,

하나님을 경외하고, 그분의 명령을 지켜라.  이것이 사람이 해야할 본분이다.

하나님은 선악간의 모든 행위와 남몰래 한 모든 일을 심팔하실 것이다.

For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

“everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless.”

But, my child,

let me give you some further advice:

Be careful, for writing books is endless, and much study wears you out.

That’s the whole story.

Here now is my final conclusion:

Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.
